Essential Wedding Photos: The Must-Have Shot List for Your Big Day

Every wedding is unique, and my role as a wedding photographer is to capture the characters and emotions that are very personal for every couple. Some moments are universally cherished and capturing these key shots will help tell the full story of the wedding day. That's why I have prepared for you the essential wedding photos list. Please read this before your wedding day, that's the basic shots I always take.

1. Getting Ready Moments

  • Bridal and Groom Preparations

    Portraits of the bride and groom as they prepare, surrounded by close friends or family, include shots of hair and makeup, adjusting ties, and other details.

  • Wedding Attire and Accessories

    Detail shots of the wedding dress, veil, shoes, jewellery, bouquet, and other meaningful items.

    2. Ceremony Essentials

    • The Venue The beauty of the venue both before guests arrive and while it’s filled with family and friends.

    • Processional and Recessional

      These are very important moments, from the bridal party’s entrance to the newlyweds’ walk down the aisle after saying “I do.”

    • Vows and Ring Exchange

      I like to capture these intimate moments as they unfold naturally.

      3. Family and Group Portraits

      • Immediate Family Shots

        Generally, after the ceremony it is a time to take portraits with parents, siblings, and grandparents, these are timeless treasures.

      • Extended Family and Friends

        I’ll capture other important family members and friends, ensuring everyone feels included.

        • Classic Romantic Shots

          I’ll guide the couple into natural, loving poses, creating timeless photos that show off their love.

        • Creative Shots

          I'm a big fan of unique, creative touches, I like to incorporate, such as capturing reflections, using natural elements, or playing with lighting.

        5. Reception Details and Candids

        • Decor and Setup

          I like to capture all the reception details that the couple carefully planned: tablescapes, floral arrangements, and other décor.

        • Toasts and Speeches

          The best time to capture the emotional and candid shots is during the toasts, which often reflect genuine joy and laughter.

        • First Dance and Parent Dances

          The highlight of the night -the romance of the couple’s first dance, along with the sentimental parent dances, which are always cherished memories.

        • Bouquet Toss and Cake Cutting

          I’ll be sure to capture these traditional moments, adding a playful or sweet touch to the album.

        • Dance Floor Moments

          As the night goes on, I’ll capture guests enjoying themselves, from dance floor moves to laughter and joyful moments.
